Alicja Kamaj u podstawy swojej twórczości zawsze widzi ubiór i tkaninę i to własnie poprzez te narzędzia eksploruje cielesność i szuka jej nowych form. Relacja ciało-ubranie-przestrzeń od zawsze ją fascynowała i czuła, ze jej spojrzenie na tę kwestie jest niemalże duchowe. Poprzez metalowe liny, którymi artystka przeszywa swoje projekty, transformuje ubranie w instalacje rzeźbiarskie, które przypominają stworzenia z pogranicza świata natury i fantazji. Obiekty te balansują na granicy groteski, gdyż tkanina rozpostarta na metalowych linach niemalże przypomina wyprawioną skórę.
Urodzona w 1997 roku, Absolwentka warszawskiej Katedry Mody na Wydziale Wzornictwa oraz Magistra Projektowania Mody The Swedish School of Textile. Artystka wizualna i projektantka mody oraz kostiumów teatralnych. W 2024 roku zadebiutowała jako ta ostatnia w spektaklu Puste Miejsca w reżyserii Leny Frankiewicz w Teatrze Wybrzeże.
At the core of Alicja Kamaj’s work lie clothing and fabric, through which the artist explores corporeality and seeks new forms of expression. The relationship between body, clothing, and space has always fascinated her, and she considers her perspective on these issues almost spiritual. The metal ropes she uses to stitch her projects transform garments into sculptural installations resembling creatures from nature’s and fantasy’s borderlands. These objects balance on the edge of the grotesque, as the fabric stretched over the metal ropes almost resembles tanned skin.
Born in 1997, Alicja Kamaj is a graduate of the Fashion Department at the Faculty of Design in Warsaw and holds a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from The Swedish School of Textiles. She is a visual artist, fashion designer, and theatre costume designer. In 2024, she debuted as a costume designer in the play „Empty Spaces” by Lena Frankiewicz at the Wybrzeże Theatre.
