Jammoul Majid

Urodzony w 1948 roku w Syrii. Dyplom z wyróżnieniem w dziedzinie rzeźby na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, pod kierunkiem  profesorów T. Łodziany, O. Hansena oraz Z. Demkowskiej. W roku 1987 stypendysta D.A.A.D. W latach 1975 – 1981 był wykładowcą w Departamencie Rzeźby na Wydziale Sztuk Pięknych Uniwersytetu w Damaszku, a następnie dyrektorem Centrum Sztuk Plastycznych w Damaszku. Laureat wielu nagród i wyróżnień w dziedzinie rzeźby m.in.  I nagrody za projekt monumentalnej płaskorzeźby Najha (1977), II nagrody za projekt Pomnika Nieznanego Żołnierza w Damaszku 1980, I nagroda za projekt Pomnika Poległych  w Jaramanie (1986). Jego prace znajdują się w zbiorach: Staatliche Kunstsammlungen w Dreźnie, British Museum w Londynie, Muzeum Narodowego w Damaszku, Muzeum Sztuki Współczesnej w Damaszku, Centrum Rzeźby Polskiej  w Orońsku, Muzeum Historycznego Miasta Warszawy, Muzeum Medalierstwa w Kremnicy w Słowacji  oraz w prywatnych zbiorach w różnych  krajach.

Born in Syria in 1948. Diploma with distinction in the field of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, under the supervision of professors T. Łodziana, O. Hansen and Z. Demkowska. In 1987, scholarship holder D.A.A.D. From 1975 to 1981 he was a lecturer at the Sculpture Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Damascus, and then the director of the Center of Fine Arts in Damascus. Winner of many awards and distinctions in the field of sculpture, including 1st prize for the design of the monumental bas-relief of Najha (1977), 2nd prize for the design of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Damascus 1980, 1st prize for the design of the Monument to the Fallen in Jaraman (1986). His works are in the collections of: Staatliche Kunstsammlungen in Dresden, British Museum in London, National Museum in Damascus, Museum of Contemporary Art in Damascus, Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, Historical Museum of the City of Warsaw, Medallion Museum in Kremnica in Slovakia and in many private collections.
